Kolkata Knight Riders clinched their 3rd IPL title

Kolkata Knight Riders registered a comfortable 8-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad in the final of the Indian Premier League 2024 at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday. Sunrisers Hyderabad captain Pat Cummins won the toss and elected to bat first.

After winning the toss, Sunrisers Hyderabad bowled out 113 runs in 18.3 overs. Kolkata Knight Riders bowlers kept things tight from the word go. Skipper Pat Cummins was the top scorer for Hyderabad with 24 runs, and Aiden Markram scored 20 runs. Heinrich Klaasen contributed with 16 runs. For the Kolkata Knight Riders, Andre Russell claimed 3 wickets, while Mitchell Starc and Harshit Rana chipped in with 2 wickets each.

In reply to that, the Kolkata Knight Riders chased down the target comfortably and scored 114 runs for a loss of 2 wickets in 10.3 overs. After the dismissal of Sunil Narine for six runs, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Venkatesh Iyer made a 91-run partnership for the second wicket. Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored 39 runs. Venkatesh Iyer was the star with the bat and scored an unbeaten 52 runs in 26 balls.

With that, the Kolkata Knight Riders became the champions of the Indian Premier League in 2024. It’s registered as their third IPL title.
