India Under19 team wins third consecutive AsiaCup title

After 14 matches it was the all important big final of the ACC Under 19 Asia Cup between Sri Lanka Under 19 Team and India Under 19 Team.  India Under 19 team had won the title twice before. India Under 19 Team beat Afghanistan Under 19 Team in Semi finals and they manage to book their place in Finals. On the other Hand the host Sri Lanka Under 19 Team beat Bangladesh and qualified for the Under 19 Asia Cup final.

Indian Under 19 captain Abhishek Sharma  won the toss and elected to bat first in Final at R Premadasa stadium in Colombo. Prithvi Sha and Himanshu Rana start the India Under 19s innings and they made 67 runs for the 1st Wicket. Himanshu Rana(71) and Shubman Gill(70) scored half – Centuries for their side. Abhishek Sharma, Salman Khan, Kamlesh Nagarkoti who managed to contribute 20 good runs. While in the bowling department, it was Nipun Ransika and Praveen Jayawickrama, who claimed three wickets each.  Finally Indian under19 team manage to score 273 runs lost of 8 wickets in their 50 overs.

In reply that Sri Lanka Under 19 team lost their first wicket at the score of 27. Following that dismissal Reven Kelly and Hasitha Boyagoda made 78 runs partnership for the 2nd Wicket. Reven Kelly(62) and Sri Lankan skipper Kamindu Mendis(53) made half – Centuries in Sri Lanka’s chasse. Sri Lankan had a good chance to chasse this target. But unfortunately they lost their last 7 wickets within 43 runs.  While in the bowling department, it was Abhishek Sharma , who claimed four wickets. Eventually Sri Lanka Under 19 team all out for 239 in 48.4 overs. It clam 34 runs win for India Under 19 Team and They became the Champions of ACC Under 19 Asia Cup 2016.

Abhishek Sharma named as the player of the match and Himanshu Rana named as the player of the series.
