Disgraceful from Shakib and Bangladesh players – Angelo Mathews

Bangladesh registered a three-wicket win over Sri Lanka in the 38th match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on Monday at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. At the end of the match, Sri Lankan all-rounder Angelo Mathews joined the post-match media conference to express his thoughts about his dismissal and explain what happened in the middle.

“I haven’t done anything wrong. I have 2 minutes to get to the crease and get myself ready. which I did, and it was an equipment malfunction.” Angelo Mathews explained what happened in the middle when he went to bat.

He talked about that incident in a pretty disappointing way and said that, in his 15 years of career, he has never seen the team go down to that level. “It was just pure common sense; I’m not talking about mankading or obstructing the field here. It’s absolutely disgraceful.” Angelo Mathews said “Obviously disgraceful from Shakib and Bangladesh players. If they want to cricket like that, obviously they stood down to that level. I think something is drastically  wrong. He added.

Also, journalist  asked about the behavior of the Sri Lankan players who didn’t shake hands with Bangladesh players. “We’ll respect them if they respect us and respect the game itself.” Angelo Mathews replies. “Up until today, I have had the utmost respect for him (Shakib) and the Bangladesh team, but today he lost all.” Mathews showed his disappointment.
