On this day in 2004, world cup-winning Indian captain MS Dhoni made his debut in ODI matches. He played his maiden ODI match against Bangladesh at Chattogram. However, unfortunately, Dhoni was run out for a duck.

In reply to that, the Jaffna Kings chased down the target successfully and scored 164 runs for a loss of eight wickets in 19.2 overs.
