Comfortable win for Windies over South Africa

The West Indies registered a 28-run win over South Africa in the first T20I of the series at Sabina Park, Kingston, Jamaica, on Thursday. South African captain Rassie van der Dussen won the toss and opted to bowl first.

After losing the toss, the West Indies made 175 runs for a loss of 8 wickets in their 20 overs. Brandon King was the top scorer with 79 runs. Kyle Mayers and Brandon King made a 79-run partnership for the second wicket. Mayers scored 34 runs, while Roston Chase contributed with an unbeaten 32 runs. Other than that, no one was able to reach the double-figure mark. For South Africa, Ottniel Baartman and Phehlukwayo claimed three wickets each.

In reply to that, South Africa bolwed out for 147 runs in 19.5 overs. South Africa lost wickets at regular intervals. Matthew Breetzke scored 19 runs, and Rassie van der Dussen scored 17 runs. Reeza Hendricks fought till the end and scored 87 runs. For the West Indies, Gudakesh Motie and Matthew Forde claimed three wickets each.
