Bangladesh and New Zealand have had a positive start in warm-up matches
Bangladesh and New Zealand registered wins over Sri Lanka and Pakistan in the warm-up games, while the match between South Africa and Afghanistan was washed out on Friday.
1st Warm-up Game – ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023
The first warm-up match of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 was played between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh at Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. After winning the toss, Sri Lanka batted first and bolwed out for 263 runs in 49.1 overs. Pathum Nissanka was the top scorer for Sri Lanka with 68 runs, and Dhananjaya de Silva scored 55 runs. Kusal Perera went off after scoring 34 runs in 24 balls. For Bangladesh, Mahedi Hasan claimed three wickets.
In reply to that, Bangladesh chased down the target successfully, scored 264 runs for a loss of 3 wickets in 42 overs, and registered a 7-wicket win. Tanzid Hasan scored 84 runs, and Litton Das contributed 61 runs. Both Tanzid Hasan and Litton Das added 131 runs for the first wicket. Bangladesh’s standing captain for the first warm-up game, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, scored an unbeaten 67 runs, and Mushfiqur Rahim scored an unbeaten 35 runs.
2nd Warm-up Game – ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023
The second warm-up match of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 between South Africa and Afghanistan at Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram was abandoned without a ball bowled.
3rd Warm-up Game – ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023
New Zealand registered a five-wicket win over Pakistan in the third warm-up match of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. After winning the toss, Pakistan batted first and scored 345 runs for a loss of 5 wickets in their 50 overs. Mohammad Rizwan was the top scorer for Pakistan. He went off the field after scoring 103 runs on 94 balls. Babar Azam scored 80 runs, while Saud Shakeel contributed 75 runs.
In reply to that, New Zealand chased down the target and scored 346 runs for a loss of five wickets in 43.4 overs. Rachin Ravindra scored 97 runs in 72 balls, and Mark Chapman scored an unbeaten 65 runs. Both Kane Williamson and Daryl Mitchell went off the field after scoring half centuries.
