South Africa registered a 27-run victory over England in the first ODI of the series on Friday at Bloemfontein. With that win, South Africa gained 10 points and moved up to 10th place in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Super League point table. They have 69 points, while the West Indies are in eighth place with 88 points, and Sri Lanka is in ninth place with 77 points.

Sri Lanka has three matches against New Zealand in New Zealand. They have to win all three matches to directly qualify for the upcoming ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup. If Sri Lanka wins their remaining three matches, South Africa would have to win all of their remaining matches to de direct qualify for the upcoming ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup. They have two more matches against England at home and two matches against the Netherlands in March.
