Was there a possibility of Hasaranga being included in the World Cup squad?

Sri Lanka’s Cricket Selection Committee chief, Pramodya Wickramasinghe, issued a letter with five pages to reveal the reason for the downfall of Sri Lanka Cricket.

In this letter, the chief selector said that the minister opposed the proposal to include Wanindu Hasaranga and Dushmantha Chameera in the World Cup squad, who were injured at the time.

Wanindu Hasaranga was injured during the Lanka Premier League 2023, and he was ruled out of the Asia Cup as well.

However, Sri Lankan all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga posted a photo on his official Instagram account and said that his surgery to repair the defect in my hamstring muscle or tendon was a success. He posted this note on social media on October 10, 2023.

When Hasaranga posted this post, Sri Lanka had already played two matches in the World Cup. Sri Lanka played their first match against South Africa on October 7th, and they played their second match against Pakistan on October 10th.
