WATCH: Wanidu Hasaranga should captain for all three formats, says Shoaib Malik

Sri Lanka lost to New Zealand in their last match in the ICC Men’s World Cup 2023 on Thursday. Sri Lanka hasn’t had a good outing in this year’s World Cup. Sri Lanka just managed to win two matches in the nine matches they played in the tournament. The Sri Lankan team performed poorly and failed in three departments.

At the end of the match, during an interview, Pakistani former captain Shoaib Malik suggested that Sri Lanka appoint a new captain for all three formats.

“The Sri Lanka Cricket Board should speak to Wanindu Hasaranga and convince him to take his retirement back from Test Cricket and make him captain for all three formats.” Shoaib Malik said “Because he has that leadership ability in him. Also, he likes to fight until the last ball. Give him all responsibility and tell him to run the show.” He extended his explanation.
