Upul Tharanga has been appointed as head of the Sri Lanka Cricket Selection Committee

Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs of Sri Lanka Harin Fernando stated that the New Selection Committee will be appointed, and former captain and opening batter Upul Tharanga has been appointed as chairman.

Also, Sport Minister Harin Fernando has appointed 15 members to the National Sports Council, headed by Dr. Maiya Gunasekara. The previously National Sports Council was headed by Arjuna Ranathunga.
