Sri Lankans’ contribution in the victory over the India Maharajas

Asia Lions registered a 9-run win over India Maharajas in the 1st Match of the Legends League Cricket on Friday at Doha. Asia Lions batted first and scored 165 runs for the loss of six wickets in their 20 overs. In reply, India Maharajas managed to score 156 runs for the loss of eight wickets.
Four Sri Lankans were included in the Asia Lions’ playing XI, and every one contributed to the victory.

Upul Tharanga

Upul Tharanga and TM Dilshan opened the innings and made 17 runs for the first wicket until TM Dilshan was dismissed for 5 runs. However, Upul Tharanga scored 40 runs in 39 balls with two sixes. He played a crucial role with Misbah-ul-Haq and rebuilt the Asia Lions’ 108-run partnership for the third wicket. Also, Upul Tharanaga took a catch behind the stump to get rid of Suresh Raina.

Thisara Perera

Sri Lankan all-rounder Thisara Perera couldn’t contribute with the bat. He came out to bat after the dismissal of skipper Afridi in the 17th over of the match. However, he made a huge impact in the field and took 2 catches and took the wicket of Suresh Raina. Also, he bowled a brilliant final over and just gave away 6 runs.

TM Dilshan

Sri Lankan legend TM Dilshan was dismissed early for just five runs. But with the ball, he managed to claim Murali Vijay’s wicket at a crucial time of the innings. With that wicket, he broke the 50-run partnership between Murali Vijay and Gautam Gambhir.

Isuru Udana

Sri Lankan all-rounder Isuru Udana claimed 1 wicket for 29 runs in his 3 overs. His third over went for 13 runs, and it’s spoiled his spell.
