South Africa women’s team has defeated Australia for the first time

The South African women’s team registered a six-wicket historical win over the Australian women in the 2nd T20I of the series on Sunday in Canberra. Australia women’s team captain Alyssa Healy won the toss and elected to bat first.

After winning the toss, the Australian women’s team scored 142 runs for a loss of six wickets in their 20 overs. Grace Harris was the top scorer with an unbeaten 31 runs, and Alyssa Healy scored 29 runs. Tahlia McGrath contributed 23 runs. For South Africa, Masabata Klaas claimed two wickets.

In reply to that, the South African women’s team chased down the target successfully and scored 144 runs for a loss of four wickets in 19 overs. South Africa were off to a solid start and made a 75-run partnership for the first wicket. Tazmin Brits scored 41 runs. Marizanne Kapp scored 20 runs. Skipper Laura Wolvaardt was the top scorer with an unbeaten 58 runs.

With that win, the South African women’s team has defeated Australia for the first time in international cricket.
