Roston Chase and Andre Russell finished the match in West indies style

The West Indies registered a five-wicket win over Papua New Guinea in the second match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 at Providence Stadium in Guyana. West Indies captain Rovman Powell won the toss and opted to bowl first.

After losing the toss, Papua New Guinea managed to score 136 runs for a loss of eight wickets in their 20 overs. PNG hasn’t had a good star, and they lost three wickets in the power play. Skipper Assad Vala scored 21 runs. Sese Bau played a sensible knock and scored 50 runs. At the back end of the inning, Kiplin Doriga scored an unbeaten 27 runs. For the West Indies, Alzarri Joseph and Andre Russell chipped in with two wickets each.

In reply to that, the West Indies chased down the target successfully and scored 137 runs for a loss of five wickets in 19 overs. After the dismissal of Johnson, Charles Brandon King and Nicholas Pooran made a 53-run partnership for the second wicket. Nicholas Pooran scored 27 runs. Brandon King scored 34 runs. Roston Chase was the top scorer with an unbeaten 42 runs in 27 balls, while Andre Russell contributed with an unbeaten 15 runs.
