March 08: Kumar Sangakkara’s record breaking Hundred

On this day in 2006, Sri Lankan legend Muttiah Muralitharan took his 50th five-wicket haul in test matches. He achieved that milestone during the 2nd Test match between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh at Bogra. Muralitharan claimed 5 wickets for 79 runs in the 1st inning of Bangladesh.

On this day in 2015, Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara became the first player to score three consecutive World Cup hundreds. Sangakkara scored 104 runs in a World Cup match against Australia in Sydney while they chased down the target of 377 runs. Recently, he has scored an unbeaten 105 and 117 against Bangladesh and England, respectively, in two consecutive matches.

On this day in 2015, Sri Lankan opening batter TM Dilshan smashed Mitchell Johnson for six fours in an over. It happened during the 6th over of the match when Sri Lanka chased down the target of 377 runs against Australia in Sydney.
