March 06: Aravinda de Silva record breaking World Cup hundred
On this day in 1996, Sri Lankan legend Aravinda de Silva became the first Sri Lankan to score a hundred in a World Cup match. He scored 145 runs on 115 balls in a World Cup match against Kenya at the Asgiriya Cricket Stadium in Kandy. It helped Sri Lanka post 398 runs, which was recorded as the highest team total in ODI matches until 2006.
On this day in 1999, Sri Lankan all-rounder Russell Arnold made his maiden hundred in Test matches. Russell Arnold scored 123 runs against Pakistan at Lahore, which is recorded as his highest score in Test matches.
