India start their World Cup campaign with a comfortable win

India registered a comfortable 8-wicket win over Ireland in the 8th match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. India captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bowl first.

After losing the toss, Ireland were bowled out for 96 runs in 16 overs. Gareth Delany was the top scorer with the bat and scored 26 runs, and Joshua Little scored 14 runs. Curtis Campher and Lorcan Tucker contributed with 12 and 10 runs, respectively. Other than that, no one was able to reach the double-figure mark. For India, Hardik Pandya claimed 3 wickets, while Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh chipped in with 2 wickets each.

In reply to that, India chased down the target successfully and scored 97 runs for a loss of 2 wickets in 12.2 overs. Rishabh Pant scored an unbeaten 36 runs, and Rohit Sharma went off the field after making 52 runs in 37 balls.
