Huge win for India against Pakistan
India registered a 228-run win over Pakistan in the rain-effected third match of the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup 2023. Pakistan captain Babar Azam won the toss and opted to bowl first.
After losing the toss, India got off to a flying start and scored 121 runs for the first wicket. Rohit Sharma was dismissed for 56 runs. In the very next over, Shubman Gill got out for 58 runs. However, later on, the match was called off due to rain when India were 147 runs short of losing two wickets in 24.1 overs. The match will resume on reserve day. On the reserve day, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul batted through the innings and made an unbroken 233-run partnership for the 3rd wicket. Virat Kohli was the top scorer with an unbeaten 122 runs, and KL Rahul scored 111 runs not out. Eventually, India scored 356 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in their 50 overs.
In reply to that, Pakistan bowled out for 128 runs in 32 overs. Indian bowlers kept things tight and put pressure on Pakistan’s batsmen. Fakhar Zaman was the top scorer with 27 runs. Agha Salman and Iftikhar Ahmed scored 23 runs each. Babar Azam contributed 10 runs. Other than that, no one was able to cross the double-figure mark. However, after the dismissal of Faheem Ashraf, Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf didn’t come out to bat. With that match ended with 108 balls to spare. For India, Kuldeep Yadav claimed five wickets for 25 runs.
