February 03: Murali equaled Wasim Akram’s record

On this day in 2009, Sri Lankan spin wizard Muttiah Muralitharan equaled Wasim Akram’s record for most one-day wickets by taking his 502th wicket during the third one-day international against India at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. He took the wicket of Yuvraj Singh as his 502th wicket.

On this day in 2009, Sri Lankan legend Mahela Jayawardena passed 8000 runs in ODI matches. He became the fourth Sri Lankan player to reach that feat. Mahela Jayawardene achieved that milestone while scoring 30 runs against India at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

On this day in 2011, Sri Lankan pacer Nuwan Kulasekara reached 100 wickets in ODI matches. He achieved this milestone during the match against the West Indies at the Sinhalese Sports Club Cricket Ground in Colombo.

On this day in 2018, Sri Lankan middle-order batter Roshen Silva made his first hundred in Test matches. Roshen Silva scored 109 runs against Bangladesh at Chattogram in his second Test match of his career.
