Dimuth In, Mathews out; Sri Lanka squad released

Sri Lanka’s 17-member squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup gets approval from the Sports Ministry. However, the Sri Lanka Cricket Board has not yet announced the official statement for the Sri Lanka squad.

According to the report, Sri Lanka’s regular captain, Dasun Shanaka, will lead the side for the first time in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup, while Kusal Mendis will be named as the vice captain of the team.

Mahesh Theekshana, Dilsan Madhushanka, and Wanindu Hasaranga were included in the subject of fitness. Lahiru Kumara was brought back into the side after his injury, and Binura Fernando dropped from the squad, who was included in the recently concluded Asia Cup.

Dimuth Karunarathne retains his spot in the World Cup squad, while Angelo Mathews misses his last World Cup campaign.

Two all-rounders, Chamika Karunarathne and Dushan Hemantha, will travel with the team as reserve players.
