Chamari Athapaththu claimed ICC Women’s Player of the Month
The International Cricket Council revealed the winner of the ICC Player of the Month for September 2023. Sri Lankan Women’s Team captain Chamari Athapaththu was named the Women’s Player of the Month, while Indian opener Shubman Gill claimed the Men’s Player of the Month.
33-year-old Chamari Athapaththu had a wonderful series against England, in which Sri Lanka registered a historical win. Skipper Athapaththu played a key role in beating England on their home soil. She scored 208 runs in five matches, five WT20Is, and three WODI matches in September.
