Bangladesh registered a comfortable win in the must-win game

Bangladesh registered a comfortable 89-run win over Afghanistan in the 4th match of the Asia Cup 2023 on Sunday at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan won the toss and opted to bat first.

After winning the toss, Bangladesh scored 334 runs for the loss of five wickets in their 50 overs. Mehidy Hasan Miraz, the top scorer with 112 runs, went off the field with some issues with his left hand. Najmul Hossain Shanto scored 104 runs in 105 balls. At the back end of the innings, skipper Shakib Al Hasan smashed an unbeaten 32 runs in 18 balls.

In reply to that, Afghanistan bowled out for 245 runs in 44.3 overs. After the dismissal of Rahmanullah Gurbaz in the 2nd over of the Afghan innings, Rahmat Shah and Ibrahim Zadran made a 78-run partnership for the 2nd wicket. Rahmat Shah scored 33 runs. Ibrahim Zadran was the top scorer with 75 runs, while Hashmatullah Shahidi contributed 51 runs. At the back end of the innings, Rashid Khan scored 24 runs. For Bangladesh, Taskin Ahmed claimed four wickets, while Shoriful Islam picked up three.
