August 02: Mahela Jayawardene’s Test debut
On This Day in 1997, Sri Lanka’s Legendary Batsman Mahela Jayawardena made his debut in Test matches. He played his maiden ODI match against India at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. He scored 66 runs against India in his first appearance in a Test match. Mahela Jayawardene played 149 Test matches and scored 11814 runs until he retired in 2014.
On This Day in 2013, Sri Lankan legend Lasith Malinga completed his 50 wicket milestone in T20I matches. He took David Miller’s wicket as his 50th wicket at R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
