A comfortable win for Afghanistan

Afghanistan registered a comfortable 125-run win over Uganda in the 5th match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 at the Providence Stadium in Guyana. Uganda captain Brian Masaba won the toss and opted to bowl first.

After losing the toss, Afghanistan were off to a flying start and made a 154-run partnership for the first wicket. Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored 76 runs, and Ibrahim Zadran scored 70 runs. However, after that, Afghanistan lost momentum, and they managed to score 27 runs in the last 5 overs. Mohammad Nabi scored an unbeaten 14 runs. For Uganda, Cosmas Kyewuta claimed two wickets. Eventually, Afghanistan made 183 runs for a loss of five wickets in 20 overs.

In reply to that, Uganda bowled out 58 runs in 16 overs. Robinson Obuya was the top scorer with 14 runs, and Riazat Ali Shah scored 11 runs. Other than that, no one was able to pass the double-figure mark. For Afghanistan, Fazalhaq Farooqi claimed 5 wickets, while Rashid Khan and Naveen-ul-Haq chipped in with 2 wickets.
